Ive been decluttering for the best part of the day. I have cleared a couple of boxes of 'stuff' and sorted out my wool. I have a suitcase full, 2 large plastic tubs full and a basket full, then I'm about to use a tub for all my current knitting/craft projects.
This will also tidy up the loungeroom a little.
I am getting tired as i didn't get a great deal of sleep.. mite be time for a rest soon after ive done the dishes and b4 i pick up my DD from school.

What I had to do was to take one room at a time. I started at the front door and living room and literally took everything out of there except for furniture that I knew would stay. I just moved everything into the spare room until I could decide what was going to stay. When you empty out a room (including plants, lamps, nicknacks, etc) it's like having a canvass to draw on. I started putting back what I wanted to achieve the look I wanted. Even if you can't get everything done at once, you could start by having your main living room the way you want it to be. Go to some model homes and see what appeals to you in the decor and placement of the furniture. Take one room at a time and it will get easier. It also made getting rid of things easier once it was out of the room in question.
I also like the 15 minute decluttering idea. You might like www.flylady.com. She offers alot of advice. I also like to try to throw out 27 things everyday. That is also very motivating. Good luck!
