Yesterday I spent most of the day looking at my superannuation, and in Australia its much different to your American systems.
Organising for everything to be put into one super fund so as to maximise earnings from here on in. I havent got a lot of super at this stage, so did a simulated calculator and it works out how much you should be able to save, based on current age, total in super account and annual income.
If I can manage what I worked out yesterday, whilst working part time hours, and contributing just $300 a year, and a one off payment sometimes in my 50s, Ill own my house outright and have some super funds and be entitled to a part pension. I think I can live with this.. as this is just the low end of the deal.. If I work hard, I mite be able to save more.. heres hoping. Do still want a life too, hence not working my butt into the ground.
Ive had a sore shoulder for the past few days and now today ive got a nasty headache.. grr. Used to suffer from headaches all the time but havent been having many for a long time, so now it really affects me.
On the vegie garden front, my peas have taken a battering from the wind, but my cabbage, brocolli and cauli seedlings are growing well.. the capsicums are finally up but tiny and my tomatoes are taking their time but getting there..
Hi there.. after a big absence, Ive decided to rejoin savingsadvice and continue with my old blog..
Hope there are still a few people I remember from years ago on here.
Currently still working in the same industry I was, part time on less hours than I used to, and work continues to be hard one day, ok the next lol
Still struggling with clutter, only this house is worse than my old one was.. so Im in the process of getting some built in wardrobes built and trying to get rid of excess stuff (there's still way too much). So sometimes I don't feel like I've gotten anywhere, but I know just how much stuff has left this place in the last 3 years.. just wish it looked like it.. lol. Who else has this problem?
I have some tomato seedlings, some snow peas, some silverbeet and a dwarf bean coming up. have some capsicum planted, some strawberries, some brocolli and cauliflower im waiting to come up.
hi guys. checking in again after a year's absense. And boy what a year it has been!
I bought a house, and have continued working in my very stressful job in disability, which has driven me into complete exhaustion and my health is now suffering.
I'm currently on sick leave without pay, and having to live on benefits. But have a job capacity assessment next week, so that will be interesting.
Atm my plans are to chat with my bosses to see if there are any alternative roles they can put me into, otherwise im looking at resigning and just doing this work casually and looking into aged care.
as for the house, im decluttering and planting some seeds in the hpe to have a vegie garden.
otherwise lots of rest
then trying to find some alternative work in aged care.
had a break from posting.. actually been so busy i forgot about this website for a couple of months..
I've been saving hard since i last posted.. nothing's changed in that department.
I am sick atm, on antibiotics, and my daughter is off to the doctor too and home from school for a couple of days.
So just resting, taking it easy and watching the Olympics..Go Aussies!
had an eventful couple of days at work.. now i need a rest..lol.
On a brighter note, my headaches/migraines have settled down, thank goodness.
Just sleeping all the time the last couple of weeks, and always feeling tired, no matter how much sleep i get at night and whether i work or not. tho i must admit when i have sleepovers at work or 11 hour shifts I do end up much more tired than usual.
I have been suffering from headaches a lot lately and its been really hard to work, look after my DD 6 yr old and run a house.
so just gonna have to listen to my body for a while and rest more wen i need to.
I already have some change in a money tin hidden in my house, though it wouldn't be much.
So I have decided that between now and then (end of June) I will put more change into this tin and when the holidays come, we'll count the money and can use this to do a couple of activities on the holidays.
just finished a 22 hour weekend at work..im knackered. nite all.
and they are really good!
Ill be laminating them so that they last.
Got a letter from DD's school asking me to help her with an inquiry learning project. we had a little over a week to complete it.
We started it this morning and its looking good, except for the big apple tree drawn in texta that DD drew coz she felt like it...lol. I had to laugh, we have just stuck some computer printed pictures over the top.. at least it looks like her work.
stocked up on meat today. Got some rissoles, hamsteaks, steak, kebabs, chicken breasts, chicken schnitzels, stir fry strips. so shud be right for meat for the month of June.
I'm finding it hard to make a decision about which fund to go with now I'm working regularly and then I have to roll over some other funds into that fund of my choice. Think I've made a decision provided that they reinstate me with my old insurance cover which they say they will.. will find out i spose as I'm going to send the forms off tomorro. But will call them yet again and check everything again with them..
I've decided to begin giving my DD who has just started Primary school (or Elementary school for all u Americans).
She has decided that she wants to start taking money to school, but she also wants a lunch order, and also to buy chocolates at the supermarket and toys at the cheap shops.. all this together is way too much so I've decided to give her 50c per year of her age per week, so $3 a week. But the allocation of this $3 per week will be as follows:
60% spending and/or short term savings goals
30% long term saving
10% charity of her choice
this works out to
90c long term savings
Who else gives their children allowances, how old are your children and how much do you give them? And what are your expectations of their money?
cost $15 for both. So pretty good.
my daughter is sick atm, so have had to take time off work to look after her. Got a doctors certificate so i'll get paid sick/carers leave.
Can't be bothered with a proper pantry inventory, so will just go looking for appropriate food for dinner in my house.
I think i mite get out a frozen chicken and we'll have a roast for dinner.
I mite do a pantry inventory today.. I will take everything out of the freezer and pantry and write down whats there. I will also write a menu plan and attempt to begin using whats in my house before buying too much more.
Finally home from work and boy am I tired.
I now don't work again til Wed Arvo so shud be able to get a bit of a rest today and tomorro, with the exception of doing some washing.
Then will prob try and do a bit of decluttering or tidying on Tues.
working most of the weekend, this arvo thru to tomorro morning and then again tomorro arvo thru to Sunday morning.
Still feelin rather tired, tho I did have a bit of a rest this morning..after dropping off DD to school.
